Confabulation Episode 4: Horror author and poet Andrew K. Clark

In the first episode of my interview with southern Appalachian horror author and poet, Andrew K. Clark, we talk about his stomping grounds of Asheville, North Carolina. Clark’s writings showcase his home territory as a character in and of itself, so we start our interview there.

Clark has a new novel, Hollow Folk, releasing on Tuesday, September 29th, 2026. Be sure to check it out and pre-order or snatch it up on release day.

In the next episode, Clark will discuss how he believes poetry can make us better fiction authors. Stay tuned for the next episodes to drop in the coming days.

Further along this interview series, Clark and I discuss Christian fundamentalism at length, of which we were both raised but are no longer members of. So be sure to stay tuned for the whole interview of Andrew K. Clark as I trickle out the episodes.

Upcoming author reading of queer YA horror story

This September I’ll be going back to my old hometown, Rolla, Missouri, where I grew up in the 90s, to read from my queer YA sci-fi horror comedy short story “Blood Frequency” and doing a Q&A. My story takes place in that town during the 90s. And the event is hosted by the local LGBTQ+ group.

It’s sort of surreal to think about it. But a lot of good work has been done these past few years in my old hometown to be more inclusive and kind. Doing something like this there in the 90s would have been unheard of.

In preparation for this event, I’ve created an Events page on the website with details and a link to the Facebook Event. In the future, I’ll be posting all events I do to that page.
